Following a illness of several weeks, Mrs. Laura V. Capron, widow of Charles A. Capron, died at her home, 203 West Seneca street, early Thursday morning.

Born in Oswego, a daughter of the late Anthony and Jane Chetney, early settlers of the East Ward. Mrs. Capron was educated in the schools here and was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She served for many years as Republican committeeman of the Third district of the First Ward and was an ardent worker for the party.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert A. Newstead, Miss Gertrude A. Capron, and Mrs. Fred L. Gilbert, Oswego; two sons, Charles K. and Donald A. Capron, Oswego; a brother, W. Earle Chetney; one sister, Mrs. Jacob Fink, Oswego; also nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one nephew.

A solemn high Mass was celebrated by the Rev. John J. Daley with the Rev. J.Robert Quigley as deacon and the Rev. William Brown as sub-deacon. The Rev. David Latulip and the Rev. Eugene Yennock were present in the sanctuary.

Burial was in St. Peter's cemetery with Father Daley and Father Latulip officiating.

Bearers were Robert Bradshaw, Blaze Detota, Joseph Cernaro, Edwin Callaghan, Anggio Pascuzzi and Fred Gilbert.

Services will be Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. at the Dain Funeral Home and at St. Mary's Church at 10:15 a.m. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
