Capron, 88, of 4133 Mead Road, died at 11:05 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 28, 2004) in the home of his son in Sebring, Fla.
An area resident most of his life, he was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Sugar Grove, Pa., the son of Robert and Edna Butler Capron.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II as a minesweeper in the Mediterranean. Prior to retirement, he was employed in the radiator division of the former Blackstone Corp. for several years. He also owned and operated a farm on the Mead Road for many years. In earlier years, he was employed by the Erie Railroad, where he built railroad tracks throughout the area. He was a former member of the John W. Tiffany Post 53 VFW.
He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, where he enjoyed being outdoors, loving and appreciating the beauty of Mother Nature. He truly loved being a gentleman farmer. He loved and cherished the times he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a special close relationship with his son-in-law, Skip Everhart and his daughter-in-law, Janet Capron, whom he thought of as his own.
He is survived by two sons: Allen Capron of Lebanon, Pa., and Gary Capron of Sebring; a daughter, Rose A. Everhart of Busti; 11 grandchildren: and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Elsie M. Tibbetts Capron, whom he married June 24, 1939, and who died June 28, 1999; two brothers: Earl and Gibb Capron; and an infant sister."3 He was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, Chautauqua, New York.3
